Team Requiem

       Blackness surrounded the Vulpix as he growled menacingly towards the darkness. A burst of flame escaped his mouth as he readied himself for the battle. Through the still night, the only sound that broke the silence was the murmur of wind blowing through the grass. The Vulpix eyed his surroundings. All was still.
       Suddenly, a shadowy figure burst from the tall grass, roaring a sound that split the night. The Vulpix shifted its stance, but otherwise did not move. His eyes narrowed.
“What do you want?”
       The figure paused for a second, its glinting, feral eyes gleaming in the darkness. It snarled.
“I want you… to breathe your last breath, with my claws stained with your blood.”
       A small grin appeared on the Vulpix’s mouth as he snorted a cloud of steam.
“Not going to happen.”
       The savage eyes in the darkness narrowed.
“So be it.”
       Fire erupted from the small kitsune, lighting up the night and revealing the shadows. Across from the Vulpix stood a Mightyena, a wild, ferocious Pokémon.
“Now!” the Vulpix shouted, and almost immediately, two figures burst from the grass, flanking the Mightyena and giving it no way to escape.
       The Mightyena snickered, its fur bristling in hate.
“You really think you can stop me?”
“Naturally,” the Vulpix countered, “since we are Team Requiem, Silver Rank.”
       If the Mightyena was surprised by this comeback, it didn’t show it, as the Pokémon let out at Howl, raising its attack.
“Alright guys, Tri-Formation!”
       The Mightyena spun around to find a Leafeon and Electrike charging up their attacks. Suddenly, it felt a shock of electricity and crumpled to the ground, unable to move. The Pokémon growled fiercely, struggling against the paralysis. It looked up to see the Leafeon charging up an Energy Ball. It whimpered.
“Please, don’t kill me. I didn’t mean to hurt all those people. I was forced to do it!”
       The Leafeon hesitated, unsure of what to do. She paused for one second, a second too late. The Mightyena smirked.
“Sucker.”
       The Leafeon was thrown backwards by a dark force, skidding across the ground until the momentum of the attack ran out. She lay on the ground, unmoving.
“No! Shay!”
       The Electrike rushed over to the Leafeon’s side as the Vulpix let off a Fire Blast at the Mightyena. The Mightyena collapsed on the ground, its fur charred and blackened. After checking its nonexistent vitals, the Vulpix rushed over to the Leafeon.
“Is she okay?”
       Tears streamed down the Electrike’s muzzle.
“Sh-she’s gone…”
“What?”
“Shay… is never coming back.”
       The Vulpix closed his eyes. When he opened them again, they were blazing crimson.
“That Mightyena pack is going to pay.”
       The Electrike shook his head, but it was too late. The Vulpix was gone.

“He went this way…”
       The Electrike motioned towards an undergrove.
“Uh… what happened here?”
       The Buizel pointed towards the burnt wood and grass surrounding the den.
“It was probably Skye, he’s the leader of Team Requiem. I think he lost it when my partner, Shay died. I don’t know what I’ll do if he didn’t survive…”
       The Electrike started to cry as the Buizel patted his back.
“Hey, don’t worry. I’m sure he’s alright.”
       The pair walked slowly through the den, noting burned Mightyena tending to their wounds. In the center of the den lay an unconscious Vulpix.
“S-Skye?”
       Skype groaned, and sat up. He shook his head to clear it. As he recovered, the Buizel looked around.
“Uh… guys?”
“Yeah Pilot?”
“I think we have some trouble…”
       The Electrike looked up to see glowing eyes looming down upon them.
“I honestly have no idea what to do now…”
